Are Cholesterol Drugs Worse Than Cholesterol?

Are Cholesterol Drugs Worse Than Cholesterol? If your doctor has talked to you about starting a cholesterol medication, it is important to carefully analyze all of the pros and cons of following through with this treatment approach. After all, cholesterol-lowering medication such as Lipitor can help reduce your risk of having a heart attack, but it will also increase your odds of developing diabetes. Just like any other statin, Lipitor has been proven to help reduce the risk of having a heart attack, stroke or developing heart disease. Additionally, it can be used to treat people who have already been diagnosed with heart disease. However, it is … Read entire article »

Back from Vacation!

Some readers know that my family is connected to Make A Wish Foundation through my oldest son, Jalen.  Jalen suffers from type 1 diabetes and Idiopathic Thombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) and was granted a special wish to go to Disney World this month.  Our family just returned from that great adventure and I am settling back into a routine with Real Men, Real Dads. I strive to post new material at least every other day on the site and even through vacation I managed to keep this pace up.  Moving forward, I hope to post more frequently than that and really crank out some great new features and material.  Please keep reading and be sure to tell a friend! Thank you all so much for keeping me motivated with this site!  I hope I can … Read entire article »

My Son is a Diabetic: Part 2

My Son is a Diabetic: Part 2

My son is a Diabetic Part 2     Being a father when your child is healthy is difficult enough, but when a child has a disease, illness, or disorder, it can be overwhelming.  My oldest son, Jalen, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in March 2011 in addition to a blood disorder (Idiopathic Thombocytopenic Purpura, or ITP for short) in May 2009.  From all accounts, neither disease/disorder has anything to do with what I or my wife have or … Read entire article »

It’s … Read entire article »

Josh’s Story with Real Men, Real Dads

Josh’s Story with Real Men, Real Dads

A little over seven years ago, I was a soldier in the U.S. Army. I had recently returned from a combat deployment to Iraq and immediately married my girlfriend, who had stuck by me for my entire year away. I had a lot of adjusting that needed to be done. I wasn’t ready for the fact that the world kept moving while my life had altered tremendously. There were no support … Read entire article »
