A Dad Gets His Wrestlemania Party

A Dad Gets His Wrestlemania Party

Spending time with friends is a luxury for this husband, father-of-two, blogger, full-time student, and full-time worker.  The number of local pro wrestling fan friends is few, too…  and being dads themselves makes it hard to get on the same page.  Even though pro wrestling get togethers are hard to come by here in my neck of the woods,  I still managed to get together on April Fools Day with my buddies Paul and Freeman and my brother-in-law Michael to watch Wrestlemania XXVIII in the comfort of my own living room.  Pizza, wings, soda, and Fruity Pebbles Treats were flowing.

The whole thing was an absolute blast.  I can’t say all of the matches were winners, but I found myself enjoying the overall show.  Being surrounded by friends certainly helped the atmosphere.  There was consensus that the John Cena vs The Rock match was pretty good, although not the best match on the show.  The CM Punk match with Chris Jericho was great, too.  There was some disagreement about the greatness of the Undertaker vs Triple H (HHH) match, though.  Paul thought it was really good, and I think he felt it was the best match on the show.  Me… well, I thought that the story that was told was a good one, but not a wrestling story and definitely lacking in what wrestling geeks like to call “ring psychology.”

The quality of each and every match, the fact that Daniel Bryan lost to Sheamus, and the hotness of A.J. are immaterial, though.  The important thing is that we had a great time, ate like pigs, and bonded a bit.  All of us being dads who take our jobs as such very seriously, that is quite an accomplishment.

I have experienced a wide range of emotions, events, hobbies, and jobs over my 30 years of life. My favorite is being a husband and a father, but right behind that are being a soldier, ring announcing for pro wrestling, rapping, interrogating, blogging, and background investigating. I own and operate Real Men, Real Dads (www.realmenrealdads.com). I look forward to working with new people on exciting projects!

I don’t think lacked psychology at all. You had Taker, Trips, and HBK, 3 of the best when it comes to psychology; if anything hurt the match it was the fact that everyone knew Taker would go over. Shawn’s torment added something not usually found in most matches, and it was easily the best match on the card. As much as I love Punk and Jericho, their match wasn’t quite the best on the card, and neither was the main event. I’ve watched it since that night and if that match isn’t the best on the card, I don’t know what is.

What you are calling psychology was story. Match psychology is when their wrestling moves make some sort of sense. In that match, there was a lot of laying around and sudden bursts that made no sense ring psychology-wise. I agree that it was one of the more enjoyable matches on the card, though!
